What the... is that picture true? Mortal kombat is bigger than street fighter? Tekken is bigger than street fighter??! I'm so confused I thought sf was the biggest fighter to the point where even I know almost most of the fighter names like Ryu and Blanka.

But not only is it not, mk is almost double its sales?

MK has the coolest lore, characters, and music of any fighting series. It deserves that spot. Nobody clamored for a non-fighting game exploring the worlds of SF, Tekken, GG, or KoF.

Naturally, the others are debatable, but music? Hell no. But fully agree on the latter sentiment. (though to be fair, KoF draws it's roster from various SNK games, some of which are not fighting)

Heh, I know folks are getting burnt out or even sick of the genre (plus there is no reason to trust WB/NRS to both do it right and not try to pull some fuckery) but I'd love an open world game in MK's various realms. Like, look at Dragon's Dogma, but replace your usual RPG vocations with MK's brand of ninjas, monks, special forces, mercenaries, sorcerers/necromancers/telepaths, and whatnot. Maybe even choose your race.

MK is more appealing to a broader audience than other fighting games, so it makes sense. And it's always had pretty solid single player content.

That's what's always drawn me in. I'm the casual button masher that can be schooled by most everyone on this board. But I do enjoy the story and lore of MK and Injustice. I really do find the story modes good, atleast since the reboot.

MK11 is pretty good... to watch the scenes
The gameplay itself is pretty meh, but one can't deny that it have good presentation.

Even the fight intro interactions are entertaining to watch.

I thought this was common knowledge Tekken 3 kicked the crap out of SF3 and Tekken has been on top ever since.

There has been push by history revisionist to paint SF3 as the best fighting game ever, universally loved etc all because of evo moment 37 but I don't think these people were alive in 1997. When SF3 came out nobody liked it. Instead of selling millions of arcade units like SF2 it sold less than a 1000. It killed Street Fighter.

Uhm.

MK1-3 have some of the most legendary music of all time.

MKDA-A have fantastic music.

MK9 has GOD TIER music.

X and 11 aren't great.

BlazBlue has god tier music, and even more so BBTAG since it also has music from Persona, RWBY, and Under Night

Smash cope like "wtf, Smash is much better" or "wtf, Smash is no Fighting game"?

I mean, even if you only count the games of the main series without any spin offs, cross overs or whatever, Mortal Kombat has 11 games, and Smash has 6 including Smash for 3DS.

And they are not in real competition anyways, unlike Street Fighter / Tekken and all the smaller series following behind.
