Me neither, I know what 4X means but the only games like that I've ever played are Age of Empires 2 and Civilization 6

4X (abbreviation of Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) is a subgenre of strategy-based computer and board games,[1][2][3] and includes both turn-based and real-time strategy titles.[4][5] The gameplay involves building an empire.[6] Emphasis is placed upon economic and technological development, as well as a range of military and non-military routes to supremacy.

In modern use 4X games are about civilization or nation management moreso than unit management. So I dunno if Age of Empires is "technically" 4X, but when people think of 4X they think spreadsheets: the game like Aurora

No this is just the base game, better than any other base 4X game ever made. 4 DLCs are promised, let's hope they can build off the incredible foundation.
