I kind of appreciate pokemon, but I'm not the biggest fan.

There was no satire

Not really. Movie wasn't nearly as much of a comedy as advertised. It was ok but I don't really need to watch it again

It's not a satire, it's okay, it's not amazing.

It's like one of those things you watch for the spectacle rather then the story.

What do you think "satire" means? Detective Pikachu is literally just a Pokemon movie. It's not even a satire of detective movies since it's also literally just a detective movie.

I only ever saw a bit of a trailer and I may be misremembering but I could've sworn Pikachu had this gruff New York accent and all of the live action pokemon looked freaky in a surreal sort of way.

I got the impression that this was going to be a noir-type film in a setting that was somewhat dark for the universe.

I knew we weren't going to get Golduck dealing heroin in a back alley, but I was picturing something halfway towards that point that was still "acceptable" for kids. I don't know if ironic was the right word.

Pikachu is Ryan Reynolds and is kinda sarcastic sometimes

Many of the Pokemon are kinda freaky looking, especially Gengar

I would not say they were intentionally going for "satire"

It's darker than the normal games, but it's also based on a spinoff.

Other than the MC and leading female being obnoxious, it's not a bad movie. Ryan Reynolds voices Pikachu, which was a lot of fun.

You're remembering it basically correctly. Just none of that is satire. It's a decent enough movie in any case, even though its not particularly dark in any adult sort of way.
