for this purpose, let's say you would die along with the heat death of the universe so you're not floating around in some void for literally all eternity

i'm tired of the moral of movies/tv shows being that "life being finite is what gives it meaning". that's such bullshit. life has no meaning, being finite just makes life infinitely more meaningless.

i would LOVE being immortal. i would get to see all the new technology, master my pick up game, i would get my pension in perpetuity so i wouldn't even have to work (as long as the USA doesn't collapse)

like just think about all the hotties i would get to bang over millenia

it would never get old

Same here.

I just wonder at what part the human mind starts to fail after so many years of existing.

The human brain can only register about a billion facts before running out of memory for others things.

I imagine a person in this scenario unable to recall most of their life unless their mind was throughly expanded somehow.

I imagine the mental and emotional toll watching your family and people around you die would slowly push you to the brink of insanity and eventually you would try any possible way to end your agony.

Then it would get even worse as humanity dies, the planet dies, and all you can do is float around the vastness of space with only yourself to keep you company.

Your mind degrades, hope fades, and you break and you just start cackling, but you can't even hear it in space.

Then it happens, you get exposed to some kind of celestial radiation that gives you super powers, and you go to a planet habited by the Wualiat people's and you destroy them and the planet, cackling incessantly.

You then travel to other worlds and do the same thing, your mind, your sanity breaking more and more each time until there's nothing left.

Nothing but the urge, the desire, to destroy everything.

Then the universe itself dies, but not you, you go on, you witness the birth of a new universe and begin your chaos anew.

I've only been around 20 something years and I'm already tired. The world has too much bullshit and there's not anything currently good enough to make up for it. Maybe in the future they make virtual reality video games so realistic that you can literally just live in that world and then I can see an argument for immortality.

And it runs on poop so you don't have to stop for a toilet break, just shit on your console.

I was thinking this but for trauma. Like its inevitable youd accumulate so much trauma youd become a vegetable or like one of those dudes on the side of the road yelling to themselves. Maybe those dudes are immortal.

It may not become old, but it would become meaningless. Lives simply wouldn't matter after you've seen so many die. Small moments that mean the world to mortals would be insignificant due to their repetitive nature.

I don't think so, but if we never figure out how to rejuvenate brains, it would eventually lead to a situation where you couldn't functionally interact with the real world.

I think a lot of it is sour graping it because the technology to have it be possible has never been available so authors want the audience to be like oh you don't want that power anyway because it'd be terrible.
