What's controversial about that, (other than I wasn't invited)?
I think most members weren't aware and when they found out were like "you guys are into having sex? I thought we were here specifically to not have sex." I think this was before all the demisexual stuff was mainstream.

Like...each other? >_>
Yeah. It was a long time ago and the stuff I heard was second hand, so take it with a grain of salt.

Man if we are just going to take a word with a very clear definition and say "well we decided it is an umbrella now" then like why even use the word? Why even tell me "im asexual" because that apparently gives me no information whatsoever if I can't even believe word definitions now. Just sparknote what you do and don't bone to if you want and lets call it a day huh

Exactly lol, it's a pretty lame way to think that can basically be applied towards anything. It's like what's the point of even calling yourself anything if you're going to apply it's meaning however loosely or subjectively as you wish.

Like the color spectrum, or sex/gender, it is not a bi-modal distribution.

maybe youre left handed for some things, but not others. Maybe youre ambidextrous. People are diverse! =)

Uhh not really, there's no shortage of other ways to identify if you don't meet the description of a-sexual.
because if there's anything that society treats acceptably it's various names for each specification of sexuality or gender

umbrellas exist for a reason: it's much easier to communicate to outgroups who don't understand anything. much like how some pan folk are known to just call themselves bi to straight folks because "it's easier to explain"

Masturbation can be healthy and a form of self care, and it doesnt require being sexually attracted to other people.
I wish I could remember the tv show I watched in the past. It was a group of paramedics, and one of them was asexual. I recall her character explaining it quite well. It was something about just because she's asexual, it doesn't mean she doesn't get horny. She just takes care of business when she feels the need to.

I think most people here can probably relate to not being attracted to someone, at least I would hope.

Now just think thats how it is for everyone, rather than just certain people, when youre asexual.

Its not that difficult to understand and its not necessary to invalidate their personal experiences with comments about how theyre just doing it for attention, or confused about what label they should use

I'm some kind of asexual. I stumbled over the term "aegosexual" a while back and it's the closest thing that's made sense. I like watching porn, I can see Tom Holland and think daaaayum. Even a few people in real life I've seen who were borderline supermodels.

But actually having sex? Or even just a romantic relationship? I've just never felt the urge or desire.
