The major threat DeSantis posed was that he might be viewed as the 'sane, reasonable' alternative to Trump. But lately he is publicly determined to skew even further right than Trump on key issues. So DeSantis is quickly cementing himself as being even and even crazier bullshit culture-warrior than Trump, yet at his core being nothing more than a garden-variety spineless career politician with none of Trump's charisma. The VP pick is supposed to balance the ticket.
