Capcom wants Street Fighter to be more like Mortal Kombat and Smash Bros than the rest. That's why they have that world tour mode thing for the next one.

And yeah they want to extend the game with DLC and the like for several years. Which is why they're gonna focus on it and maybe one other fighting game at most. Even that isn't really guaranteed.

One of the directors at Capcom wanted to make this, but I'm guessing either Nintendo said "no", or it was never pitched to them to begin with.

I wish people wouldn't talk about Fighting Evolution as proof that an all-Capcom crossover game never could have worked. Fighting Evolution failed because it was a hastily slapped together game that wasn't very fun to play, not because the core concept was flawed.

Yes, Capcom wouldn't make anything like that today but that's true of everything that isn't Street Fighter or Marvel. They won't even make a new Darkstalkers and people have been asking for that for years.

Why not partner up with big ip holder who's not a control freak? Capcom VS Sega or Capcom VS bamco (maybe apologize for sfxt on disc and mtx debacle and promise full transparency) or Capcom VS Playstation. Or hell, Capcom VS square. You've got ff and several arpg characters

This is probably/possibility in the works.

We got this artwork a year or so ago. Capcom and SNK were both questioned on the artwork and expressed interest, but nothing definitive as of right now.

I think people bring it up since it seemed to be Capcom's internal logic as to why they won't, which is really sad.

Anytime Capcom wants to print money, just call up Netherrealm and do Street Fighter vs. MK. Ed Boon has said repeatedly he's on board. Plus maybe NRS can teach Capcom how to do a fighting game story mode.
