Matthew Stovers Traitor (one of the best EU books) kind of went there with the Light and Dark sides being two side of the same coin

Kotor tried to make it a thing with Jolee but being "gray" is just objectively worse because all the coolest force powers require you be on either extreme

No he's quite radical on the Light side IMO. I'd say Qui Gon Jin fits the mold the most. Also there are Dark Jedis too which isn't the same as a Sith. And then there's whatever the fuck Kyle Katarn is. This is why the SWEU is shit.

That's not an exclusively Dark side ability.

Yes it is. The only people that do it are people either on the dark side or those in the middle of succumbing to it. It's considered a major turning point whenever a jedi uses the force to choke someone.

Luke did it to Jabba's guards and they crush cyborg/robots all the time, which would also apply to Grievous. So no, I don't think that indicated he was going DS.

And Obi-Wan shot him in the heart/chest multiple times, which is the reason he's dead. Being violent isn't exclusive to the LS or DS. It's more about the emotion/motivation.

There are no "Dark Jedi". You're either a Jedi following their Order or you're not. Doesn't automatically make you a Sith either.

The same Luke who very nearly gave into his hatred and only pulled back at the last possible second because he happened to cut off the same hand Vader cut off him? Yes, that Luke. And what you're talking about was a direct application of the Dark Side and happened after Luke gave into it and was pissed off. Lucas was never subtle. But simply using the Force choke isn't a DS only thing. Again, your emotions are what determines if you're using the DS or the LS.

Whether or not Dark jedi exist in modern times, they used to be a thing. Dark Jedi were the first jedi to use the dark side, at the original jedi homeworld before a civil war that led to Dark jedi leaving to find the sith homeworld and taking a new name

Jolee Bindo is funny in KOTOR. Guy is more morally right and wise than most Jedi were. But because he didn't call himself a Jedi he is grey on the morality alignment and can use Dark Force Powers without it draining his Force Points lol

The lame thing was more that authors only used either 'Jedi' or 'Sith' and largely ignored any other different Force philosophies (like how the Nightsisters are generally ignored these days).

The concept of grey Jedi was always so dumb.

The Dark side is a corruption upon the force. There is a way to seek personal balance in oneself, using the abilities and powers of the dark side. But only those with extreme control of themselves can do so, like your Mace Windus. And even then, it isn't exactly advised, because being able to control yourself and your own emotions isn't an easy task. Anger leads to hate, and all that jazz.

The concept of someone being balanced in the force by tapping into the dark side is nonsense, since the dark side is a blight on the force.
