I know how to underline text, but there is a section of the document where there is only a couple words but I want the underline to go completely across.

What are your thoughts?

Insert->Horizontal Line (for a line all the way across)

If you need the line on the same line as the words, try using the underscore key. Just hold it down until the line is as long as you need it to be. But this is for the visual look onlyno one can enter text on such a line.

You really don't have very many options, just copy and paste the various types of UnderScore, OverScore, etc.

You also could insert a table and make all but the bottom line invisible.

It really depends on what you are trying to do, why you need the line, who else is going to be using the Doc, whether its going to be printed.

Hey, so I just tested it, and apparently it now works to select underline and then use the tab key. I used to use that method on Word documents but it never worked on Google Docs. Until today.

Space bad doesnt work, though (on Docs or Word).
