BTW I just had a thought. I wonder if this will lead to her coming back to life with different powers. So they can make her like the MCU version. I will be so mad if that happens
I think you're right on the money here. She's about to debut on the big screen in a few months, no way they'd kill her off for any significant time just for the sake of it.

She had a recent live action series and has a movie coming out this year. She'll be back before the end of the year. That or the entire death is a fake-out from the start.

Oh no doubt. I'm just speaking in general.

yeah, comic book deaths rarely stick, but that still means you're without that character for a time. And people exaggerate like they come back next issue, but character deaths usually stick for a couple years before being brought back.
It depends on popularity and impact of death. A less popular character can stay dead longer as can the impact the death had. Characters meant to have been killed off for real are currently running around because someone had a story to tell to bring them back to life.

Comics biggest problem is the rotating talent on titles. Different writers and artists who have different thoughts about these characters. Say you find a comic run you love, you become attached to these characters, well a new writer can come in and ruin everything. That tends to be inevitable. Then later a new writer will try to "fix things."

And this isn't even a new problem. This has been a comic industry problem since at least the early 00s, maybe even always. That's just when I started to notice it.

I'm not even a fan anymore. I am numb to stuff that's been going in with the industry longer then I have been alive. Gimmicky meaningless stories like this are older then I am. Once DC had people phone in to kill a character.

A character currently alive today.

But was dead for a VERY long time. So long there used to be a saying "No one stays dead in comics except Bucky, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben."

Of course the former two have since been brought back to life lol

it would be funny if the writers for ms marvel weren't consulted and are releasing her solo issues normally
In comicbook lore storys oftentimes aren't taking place parallel in time. So a run in one book could be happening in the past, another the present, or future even.

So if her storys continue without reference to this event or any status quo changes then likely the formermost is happening.

What will they do once the book catches up? Idk. I'm semi expecting it to end and relaunch upon her revival with new powers in line with the MCU.

So exactly why is it stupid to point out nobody reads comics because of how fake this is?

It's not the only reason. But it's one in a thousand valid ones.

I want to say I hate when movies change how a comic character is done in comics. But some of the best stuff was taken from outside comic media (half of Superman lore, Harley Quinn, etc.)

I guess I just don't like how forced it is. Most egregious case replacing Nick Fury with a closer to the MCU "Nick Fury Jr." and them just saying "this is how it is now, deal with it."

Man that was so weird since that MCU character was clearly Ultimates Nick Fury.

Imagine like if they made a Kingdom Come movie that was so popular that they ended up giving gray hair to Superman in all the other comics.

I remember Sub Zero was so popular that people got angry at Batman and Robin Mr Freeze, even though it's actually far more accurate to the original comic (better? no but definitely more accurate)

Even B&R kept the tragic lost love backstory. Before Heart of Ice, Freeze was just some putz with a cold suit and a freeze gun. Hed even gotten killed off as an afterthought in a Robin comic. They brought him back and gave him the TAS backstory because of the cartoons popularity.

This is part of it. Probably gonna bring her back as a mutant instead of an Inhuman as well.

This is also a marketing stunt to try and boost Ms. Marvel's popularity. Trying to generate headlines, going to have a bunch of one shots in other series of people mourning. Then she will be back. No way she is gone for a long time w/ The Marvels movie coming out soon.

Also she has been a supporting character in Spiderman for 20+ issues at this point. Her "death" is going to be in the Amazing Spider Man because that is the most popular comic book right now. They aren't doing it in her book because no one is buying it, it isn't even in the top 50.
