The entire point of BOFURI is that there are no serious stakes and it's just a bunch of friends goofing around in a VR game. I agree that S2 wasn't as good as S1 because the gimmick of "Maple lucks her way into a busted new skill and becomes stupidly overpowered" became less funny as it went on and less important as others who were just as overpowered as her became more prominent members of the cast.
