I hope you can straight up miss the throw lmfao. I don't think they're that cruel though, even after what we've seen with the remote raid nerfs.

I would probably use it in two circumstances

1.) Shiny legendary in a five star raid and I'm on my last ball

2.) One of the Hisuian birds from daily incense. I've never encountered one yet but I hear their catch rate is abysmal.

EDIT: I just realized you only get the limited balls in raids so item #1 is moot. So hisuian bird it is. Or some mega rare shiny in which a golden razz wouldn't do the trick (which is rare since fully evolved pokemon don't appear shiny in the wild, barring pokemon who had pre-evos added later)

EDIT2: They will probably paywall it after this first freebie too.

They are. They have a catch rate of 0.3%, and a flee rate of 90%.

I've only encountered one once (granted, I only used the Daily Incense enough to clear out its related Special Research and then never again afterwards), and while it was nice enough to give me a second chance after it popped out of the first Ball I threw, after the second one it ran off.

Shiny raid pokemon have 100% catch rate. Just don't miss 19 times and you'll get it.

And I have a feeling it will work like pokeballs in the encounters with Mew, Celebi, ect. If you throw and miss, it won't actually leave your inventory. If you connect the throw, then it will be gone.

Or it could work like it did in Let's Go, where you don't even get to throw, it does it automatically.

It's pretty great. You can always use a pinap, or a silver pinap if you're really candy greedy and think it's worth it for the extra 1

Your first throw on shiny legendaries autocatches them with Premier Balls anyways

Also you will be able to swap to the ball in raids
