Four years ago I gave in to a hype train.

For most of the time between DMC5's announcement and release date, I was rightfully wary and unenthused.
Right near the end though, I considered that it'd been 11 years since Itsuno had gotten to make one, that it might provide closure and that it might have fun gameplay. going by some of the trailers.

For some reason I decided that DMC5 deserved a chance to be played unspoiled. I bought it.
And for one playthrough it was a ride, everything was new. Lots of fanservice to cloud my judgement.
And then after a little while, the wheels came off. And then one of the doors. Gradually the whole thing came apart. It was sort of fun going identifying all the issues and learning to appreciate DMC3 and DMC4 all the more, but that was about it.

How ashamed should I be for buying DMC5 and thinking it would be good?
And is redemption attainable?

I don't think it's a gimmick as much as it's an opinion you don't like because... Well, I'm not sure I've ever actually seen you sincerely go to bat for this game so I'm not sure what your deal is.
