oh remind how halo is doing right now? Microsofts most beloved ip? Yeah not so good is it?

microsoft sucks at being on the game dev side of things and its been that way since the golden 360 era.

Not really. As much as I hate fanboy wars (Seriously its tedious) Microsoft is pretty shit with handling their 1st party projects.

It was genius to come out with Gamepass though.

Maybe its more that im not a fan boy and still salty about killer instinct? You know an ip that was purchased and owned by microsoft and is essentially a dead ip.

no it cant be that theyve already bought ip just to end up letting them die in the past noooo. You just a fan boy! Fan boy mental gymnastics! Microsoft perfect trust not what youve seen from the past!

you have zero clue what youre talking about.

And both Sony and Nintendo got dead IPs that deserves more games.
Same with Activision Blizzard.

Tbf, these things are often because Microsoft doesn't get involved and the teams fuck their own products up.

Still not the best look though.

I wasnt trying to look persuasive to you. I was just showing you how you look claiming everyone against the merger is a fanboy. I dont even have a ps5 nor do I plan to buy one. I primarily play on pc and switch.

im salty microsoft hasnt done anything more with the ip, and how since microsoft acquired it the franchise is dead.

my point being microsoft has enough ips already they cant capitalize on now, why would any gamer want them to have more. Hell their most popular home grown ip is in the trash now. Halo fucking sucks these days.

They're not buying just IPs. They're buying the business that operates multiple developer contracts. It's not like they have this one overworked team that won't get to make games from the IPs that they're buying.

And speaking of IPs, look at Activision's long list of dead IPs. What exactly from ABK are you worried they won't make? Being owned by Activision hasn't done NOLF any favors. It probably won't see a revival under Microsoft but the only games Activision actually cares about are CoD, and the Blizzard games and mobile games. Being purchased by someone else can only improve them since they're already so god awful. And of those companies, Microsoft is the best choice because they will release games on PC guaranteed. Sony is a total crapshoot as to whether or not they release them and it's usually the Western developer games. There's still no demons souls or Bloodborne PC.

They're going to appeal but if they lose appeal I think they should just call the UKs bluff and pull out of their markets. This would give Apple a near 100% market cap on home computing and then let's see if UK still feels strongly about monopolies when that happens.

Is that even legally allowed in the US? The shareholders will sue Microsoft for knowingly making a bad business move that was guaranteed to lower profits

They would lose even more profits by operating in a country where they're not allowed to. Parliament will rake them over coals for fines.

I thought Redfall was ok on console as in not any worse than typical low settings 30fps with dips tripe that everyone makes.

...which is why it's not worth worrying about.
The MS/Acti market will be PC, where monopolies are essentially impossible; and Xbox, which is supposedly dying.

https://www.eurogamer.net/uk-mps-grill-regulator-over-microsoft-activision-blizzard-deal-block-day-after-eu-grants-approval
Eurogamer: MPs from the UK's Business and Trade Committee are questioning the CMA's continued blockage of the deal
Apparently the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has broad plans to make the UK more welcoming to tech companies as compared to the rest of the EU, and this whole affair is undercutting those plans. The CMA is still standing firm.

https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/satya-nadella-wait-for-it-all-to-play-out-when-asked-about-pulling-out-of-the-uk-over-xbox-abk-deal
Windows Central: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is on the record as taking a "wait and see" approach to the matter.
He was specifically asked about the possibility of Microsoft pulling out of the UK market. His response was pretty noncommittal, for obvious reasons, noting that they would "respect the sovereignty of the United Kingdom and the CMA".
And now the ball is back in the CMA's court, so we'll see what happens.

linux is already generally the best option for servers but there is approx a 0% chance a standard end user ever accepts a linux desktop, even a windows UI mockup. Linux is also notoriously bad on laptops particularly for battery life

I will only understand the people vehemently against this deal if they are robots and it sets off an if-then sequence that causes them to reject it

First of all people have been arguing for awhile whether this would actually be a monopoly or not, but ignoring that for a minute and looking at the context of the actual deal. Activision is a legacy company in the video game industry with a ton of great IPs. Unfortunately, bad business in recent years (i.e. focusing on shareholders rather than customers) has caused Activision to really lose the good name it once had among gamers. This deal with Microsoft could be a chance to restore that good name. It would be wrong to say that there are no possible downsides for gamers or anyone else if this deal goes through, but it seems that the benefits would certainly outweigh the downsides at least.

Besides losing popularity and respect among gamers, Activisions practices have basically forced Bobby Kotick & Co. to sell away control of the company. Of all the potential buyers out there, Microsoft is one of the very best - especially from a gamers perspective.
Fuck their good name. Running a monopoly is never good. Especially for consumers. Microsoft wants to buy as many companies as they can. It was Bethesda before, and Activision now. Let's not forget Microsoft actually proposed to buy Njtnendo a few years back, and Nintendo laughed it off.

Microsoft wanted to buy Nintendo instead of developing a console of their own. Both companies were also interested in a beneficial partnership (which isn't as known) but those third party royalties are just too tempting to share.
