The leading theory as to what killed the dinosaurs is that a large asteroid impact triggered a massive environmental catastrophe, leading to the extinction of the dinosaurs and many other species around 66 million years ago. This theory is supported by a wealth of evidence, including the discovery of a layer of sediment enriched in the element iridium that dates back to the time of the extinction, as well as the discovery of a large impact crater in Chicxulub, Mexico, that is thought to have been caused by the asteroid impact.

The impact of the asteroid is believed to have caused a chain of events that ultimately led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. The impact would have released a massive amount of energy, causing fires, earthquakes, and tsunamis. The impact would also have thrown large amounts of dust and debris into the atmosphere, blocking out sunlight and causing a global cooling effect. This would have led to a drastic change in climate and a disruption of the food chain, ultimately causing the extinction of many species, including the dinosaurs.

Actually you are only partially right.

Around 65,000,000 years ago the super continent Pangaea was violently breaking up. There was massive earthquakes and super volcanic activity happening on the planet.

The super volcanoes was releasing hellish amounts of soot and ash up in to the upper atmosphere which was not just blocking out the Sun causing temperatures to drop but also causing severe acid rain to fall.

Now the acid rain was poisoning and killing the plants which in turn was poisoning the plant eating Dinosaurs because they were eating them and the Carnivore Dinosaurs were being poisoned because they were eating the plant eating Dinosaurs.

So the Dinosaurs future was already looking bleak but then for the final nail in the coffin the Chicxulub meteor/asteroid impacted the planet.

There were survivors but they eventually died out once the food ran out and the temperatures became to cold for them to survive.

I often wonder what life would have been like if the dinosaurs never did get wiped out. Would humanity thrive the way it did if we had to contend with giant ass monsters still roaming the Earth? Or would modern life be pretty much the same and we would have Jurassic Park zoos with T-Rexes and shit instead of tigers and elephants?

T-rexxy would never hurt anyone.
It's outrageous that there's a bill making it's way through - that may make me owning my 13ft T-Rex illegal without a permit, it's frankly unAmerican not to be able to own such a majestic creature. When I take T-rexxy for walks he's always well-behaved, and he's only ripped to shreds one Pitball, but that was self-defense!

As what was already mentioned. Any creature that couldn't escape and adapt to the fallout of the meteor and climate clange that followed were SoL.

So any animals that would submerge themselves under water, burrow, or thrive in cases essentially had a chance.

Being smaller and requiring less food to survive helped as well. So any large mammals and aquatic sealife essentially never had a chance.

Ever wonder what would happen if a similar size Asteroid was confirmed for a collision course with Earth?

I like how you have to preface "the leading theory" because 1/3s of the nutjobs in the world don't accept this as fact.

I think dinosaurs as a concept gets vastly overblown today. Pretty much everything from that time still has remnants today. Except that today mammals easily dominate. With only a couple exceptions, which ultimately amount to aberrations in scale.
