NBC is leaning into more unscripted for midseason.
The network is bringing back Deal or No Deal with a new twist and has confirmed that it is lining up another Americas Got Talent spin-off, as Deadline revealed earlier this week.

Deal or No Deal Island is set on the Bankers private island where he makes the rules and there are twists behind every palm tree. The series is described as a mix between the original long-running format and Survivor.

Hidden on the island are over 100 cases with millions of dollars split between them, which teams must retrieve so that they can play a game of Deal or No Deal against the Banker. Only one team will survive until the very last episode, where theyll compete to beat the Banker for the biggest prize in Deal or No Deal history.

The series, which is based on Banijays Dutch format, previously ran on NBC from 2005 and 2009. It returned with host Howie Mandel for a holiday special in 2018 and then ran original episodes on CNBC.

Mandel will exec produce the new version, but no word whether he will also host.
The series is produced by Endemol Shine North America with Sharon Levy and DJ Nurre also serving as exec producers.

Would actually be more interesting if they had everybody pick a case at the start of the game, and then they had no idea if they were going to go through a month of suffering and walk away with $1,000,000 or a single penny as their prize

Each Tribal Council, Jeff Probst would open the case of the person they voted out and reveal how much was inside

Unless they mean that all the others teams will literally die by the end in hilarious deaths, I think I'll pass.

I can guarantee this show completely missed the point of Survivor or are just using it as a name drop. And it will be why this show will last 2-3 seasons and Survivor is past it's 40th season. Don't you just say Survivor to say Survivor. How fuckin dare you lol

Reminds me of how when Lost was announced, I distinctly remember hearing somebody describe it as "being like Gilligan's Island"

Yeah. I think they say that shit for groups I aged out of lol. You hit your late 20s-early 30s and it's just the same weightless comparisons and claims over and over again and it does nothing for your excitement level since you know it's probably just mouth service.

Maybe they should pay their employees more instead of making shitty shows that will last half a year.

I'll hold out for an America's Got Talent/Naked and Afraid hybrid.
