I'd be okay with this on the condition that we also got a no-exceptions maximum voting age set no higher than 60, preferably 50.

Of course that won't happen, because this is solely about preventing people they don't think will vote from them, and that age group is most likely to vote for the people behind this.

Like, ideally? 16 to 50. But if it means getting that 50 or even 60 upper limit instead of the current lack of any maximum, I'd gladly compromise on the 16, even 18... 25 is a bit iffy in fairness, but 21 like the topic title says, sure.

I really dont get the Republican strategy of alienating an entire and sizable subset of voters at every waking moment, all in the pursuit of a constitutional amendment that has less of a chance of passing than repealing the 2nd Amendment.

Hell, lets lower the voting age with a no taxation without representation argument. Especially how suddenly so many on the modern right are now okay with child labor.

They won't stop at just 21. Or just a proof of citizenship. Or just service. Or just being a first responder. Or whatever bullshit justifications they can dream up.

They'll figure out the next big group that won't vote for them and slowly, but surely, chop away at their ability to vote.

It's not about it having a large impact or not. Its about the principle of the matter. Cede no ground on this matter.

Minimum voting age should be 18 or whenever you first start working and therefore paying taxes, whichever comes first. You shouldn't be paying taxes without a voice in regards to your representation, I think we had a spirited dispute over that once.

Maximum voting age should be 65. Maybe I'd be willing to tie it to the average life expectancy. You want the older vote? Make life better.
