Jim says that Nintendo has used 'terror tactics' to scare people out of pirating their games and because of this it is justifiable to do so

If that reviewer then made a video defending an outlet for something almost everyone was chastising I'd expect a 6 too.

Nobody said that. People said Kotaku was spiteful and arrogant and rightfully blacklisted for their behaviour. Jim was the one that used the term ruined. You're not very good at this.

Its very much the same game just with some added features.

I cannot wait to tear this game apart. Its really a 7/10 game and the improvements are not enough to make it seem that different than BOTW. It feels really repetitive and its a grind to really get going in the beginning.

If you loved BOTW then it gets an automatic 10 for Zelda bias. Its very much the same game just with some added features. If BOTW was a 10/10 game then TOTK will get an automatic 10/10. There really wasnt enough improvements to not be fatigued by BOTW unless you absolutely loved the game.

saying someone who gave a game an 8.8 will therefore give a later game a 6 is not "pattern recognition". Not the kind of pattern recognition that comes from a functioning frontal lobe, anyway

Like pegasus these reviews are tempting me to get a Switch but I worry that because most of my games are on my PS4/5 the Switch would gather dust like my Series X does between those big (Game Pass) releases.

He still was the one that used the word since he made it up. That quote wasn't even attributed to anyone so it might as well have been himself.

7 is not a "low" score. It is not "disdain" to point out journalists don't have to serve the best interests of the companies they cover. you are butthurt.

Realize 7 being "low" is in comparison to the fact that it is multiple standard deviations lower than the rest of the scores for the title from the other media outlets.

Secondly, Kotaku put themselves in that situation. They complained about Nintendo blacklisting them, wouldn't let it go embarrassed themselves further on that topic. For Jim to go make a video saying they are within their rights to say whatever they want, that misses the point of the situation. Kotaku wants the same privileges other media outlets have in being able to play and review TotK before release. If they didn't care about this, they would have not complained and would have quietly bought it for launch day like the rest of us. Or if they wanted to make sure the bridge was forever burnt, they could have found a way to play the game to release their review in parity with the other outlets.

And any rational man who sees X reviewer rate the game much lower than his peers, already make a statement putting the company of said title in a poor light, will easily predict said reviewer is not to change his mind on the sequel.

it is unfortunately true that game reviewers making 9 the default score to every major AAA game release have trained people to have a visceral reaction to a game they like getting anything less. this does not make 7 a low score

7 is considered a Mixed score for video games by Metacritic.

I mean, there are games that you can only play on the Switch so it really depends on what you want. Do you only want to play this one game or do you think you might like the other first party games?
