Defiant New York City Mayor Eric Adams is set to start busing migrants upstate Wednesday, creating a showdown with local pols who declared a state of emergency to try to block him. Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus told The Post that City Hall informed him of the timeline Tuesday fewer than 24 hours after Neuhaus issued an emergency declaration to halt the Big Apples plan to dump asylum-seekers at a local motel. During another private afternoon call between the Adams administration and officials from Rockland County which issued a similar declaration over the weekend city officials said 30 migrants would be bused to Rockland and another 30 migrants to Orange on Wednesday, said a source with knowledge of the conversation. We are doing everything we can to squeeze every bit of space out of New York City, an Adams aide assured the Rockland officials, according to the source.

GOP Rockland County Executive Ed Day had warned over the weekend that he already had cops deployed to thwart any incoming migrants sent from the Big Apple adding, Mr. Adams, you can try to run us over, [and] I will reach up and grab you by the throat for the people of Rockland County. Neuhaus, also a Republican, revealed earlier Tuesday that Adams contacted him last week to say the city was going to pay for about 60 migrants to stay at the Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh in Orange. Under the counties state-of-emergency declarations, hotels, motels and other short-term rentals in the region are prohibited from accepting asylum-seekers bused there. Locals ripped Adams move to dump the migrants in their town. New York City doesnt want them, so theyre going to Orange County, and it happens to be in Newburgh, said Ron Moore, who works at the Pilot truck stop across from the motel. There are a lot of hard-working people, so personally housing people for free, food for free Im not a fan of it. We want the community to know that were not allowing them to just hang out here. Another employee, who only gave her first name, Ariana, added. Why not send them to [another hotel] thats not really that nice. The Crossroads is a nice hotel, and theyre getting free support, she said. If we go over there and try to get a room, its like $150. I know were got a lot of homeless Americans. Why arent we helping them?
