Also it seems like the hot/cold indications aren't the most accurate. You get red hot, then a couple frames away you just get a kwheh.

I didn't think it was as bad as people say tbh.

It's one of the best mini games in the series.

I remember I made a separate save one time where I got 100 nobles and grinded enough points for the robe of the lords as soon as you got access to the forest so that I could have access early.

Don't know if I even ever used that file so it was probably a waste of time.

So, I looked some stuff up, and there are 8 treasures... wtf this is worse than I thought. I was stoked when I got 3... watched a guide, and the only advice was use 3x speed. I still only get 1, maybe 2. Reading the comments people are consistently getting all 8. I've been playing for an hour and have 70 points.
I don't get it...

Be patient. The more you level up, the faster your pecking speed will be. Soon enough, you'll be able to spray around any area where you're detecting stuff. You'll also dig deeper with every peck. And if I'm not mistaking, your range will be wider as well.

Oh, I get faster? I thought my peck just got stronger. Okay... seems like I've got a lot of grinding tho. How long did you all take on this game?

Yeah if you use the speed boost the timer still counts down in real time so you basically increase how much time you get.

Yes but with his erratic the chocobo moves plus how precise you need to be to get the treasures, I get so fucking antsy/frustrated when I can't find the exact spots lol

I got used to the mechanics and timing after a while. Last time I had my chocobo up to level 99 pretty early on.

You can definitely do this sort of thing now and then if you enable the extra speed. You'll get stronger over time as you continue to dig more items and faster as you upgrade your chocobo. You will also gain a sense of how far you need to travel between pecks to waste the least time finding the items.

So, am I having trouble because I just left Ludblum and my Chocobo is weak? He's level 8 or 9 from digging and it doesn't feel like it's getting any easier.

If you go out and find a few of the treasures from chocographs you have found, a certain one will give you the river upgrade seen above. You'll be able to peck somewhat faster and I think it also increases your power to some extent, too. At level 8 or 9 without upgrades it'll take several pecks to dig the more valuable items and each of those pecks will be quite slow.

Also worth mentioning that there are multiple locations and that changes happen to them as you go through more evolutions. In the final area with a maxed out chocobo, you can potentially get thousands of points from a single game.

Honestly I dont remember. It was so addictive and with one of the best songs in the game so I lost track of time.
