In films, and/or tv shows? I remember back when Dark Knight was announced, alot of people thought Heath Ledger was a huge miscast as The Joker because all they remember him were from 10 Things, and Knight's Tale as a comedic heart throb.

Hugh Jackman Wolverine
The heart throb doctor previously. Also, Robert Pattinson as Batman, who was a heart throb vampire that sparkled.

I mean it's actually great casting if it ends up working but using the logic of unexpected success, John Travolta in Pulp Fiction. Washed up and best known for campy musicals 15 years earlier, it was pretty genius of Quentin to see the potential he had as a stone cold hitman

I don't remember anyone being happy about Daniel Craig as Bond, and many boycotted Casino Royale because of that.

Apparently, the studio thought Marlon Brando was a miscast for Don Corleone, until they saw him in make up with the puffy cheeks.

If they were a hit, then they weren't miscast!

How quaint.

You have the hindsight now, but you didn't back then.

How can people say it was miscast before seeing the media though? They're being judgmental based on the actor's previous body of work.

Daniel Craig as James Bond. I still didn't like him as Bond until like the last movie.

Michael Keaton as Batman. People pretty much criticized that casting the same way as Ledger's Joker.

Another one for me is Billy Bob Thornton in the tv series Fargo. I knew he could play a bad guy of course but figure his range was kinda limited to Bad Santa type characters. Obnoxious hicks basically. Didn't think he could pull off such calm, calculating intimidation
