I just had a coworker lose a baby at 38 fucking weeks bc it got tangled in its own ambilical cord. Absolutely heartbreaking but how does this not happen more often when they're just in there for so long? Now that my wife is pregnant I'm just so paranoid that anything could go wrong.

I think a lot of people, especially Americans, don't really understand how many things can and do go wrong in the womb.

Women still die in childbirth, and yes, that's in first world countries. It's amazing humanity has survived as long as it has.
