They wouldn't stay in service for very long... could always ask for references from people you know/neighbors?

They could take something small, something maybe not noticed missing for a time because it's in a drawer or whatever, so it would be hard to prove and wouldn't hurt their reputation much if I can't. These are the thoughts that plague my head about it.
