An example of what I mean by this just happened to me today.

I was telling my friend about X person regarding something they said to management at work. My friend instantly responds by saying I dont think X person would do that without any knowledge of what Im talking about. I had to overshare information by saying Both managers confirmed it and X person apologized to me via text when my friend could have just taken my word. Im not someone to exaggerate or make accusations without supporting evidence, so this kind of thing irks me to no end.

Anyone else ever have this happen to them? If so how do you handle these situations?

I don't really think your friend would have done that at all.

Why are you assuming anybody should take you at your word? That oh I never lie or makeup things stuff sounds nice but imo if you really are that kind of person you are always prepared for people to doubt you and have proof if necessary anyway, and respect the prudence of never completely believing someone just because they said so.

or you could just not let it bother you too, completely confident in the truth and letting doubters find out in due time.

Well if this person is TC's friend you should think the initial assumption would be they're telling the truth

You're right, you shouldn't have to explain to TC that his friend being honest about his suspicions is normal behavior.

Huh? Having a friend immediately cast doubt on your version of events is normal to you?

Looks like Jerry needs better friends.

Sometimes people make mistake or make things up. But consider this as a moment where your friend now trusts you more.
