The max raise this year is about $35/month if you done really well.

And she said there is no extra money to apply this year either.

I got 4 times the raise so about $140/month

Which is nice but also diminishes my reason to change jobs which I still want to.

My pay is still not good compared with other jobs etc but yeh. Im happy, wasnt expecting it.

It annoys me when bosses plead poverty.

The superintendent of the school I work at has publicly said that everybodys pay is frozen this year while they re-evaluate the budget. Ive had a pay rise though. So has the principal of primary and the superintendent. I dont know if any others for certain but I very much get the impression that the pay freeze doesnt apply to management, but thats not what everybody was told, so now I have to keep mine a secret.

I think that's her way of trying to look out for you not as a employer but as a fellow human being who cares about you and your future. She is telling you it's best to move on because you are likely too skilled for your position and the higher ups don't want to pay someone as much as you really deserve for the work quality you provide. Usually good bosses will do this, not only for their favorites but for people who work under them to facilitate growth and progress towards the career you want and / or deserve, but it's rare because too many managers, etc., only care about keeping the cogs in order via manipulation, lies, etc. to keep the operation running and getting to that next bonus.

Its municipal so its taxpayer money, so its not only my boss that can decide our salary as she wants. And then there is our union which is involved.

I still earn way below median salary in Sweden despite being soon 20 years at the same employer. But not many in my field earn median salary.

She is the best boss ever. I remember 10 years ato when she became our new boss ( in this field at least in my muniplicity its rare to have a boss stay this long) said that she will fight for us and fight the ones above her. And she has done that. She perfectly seprarates boss mode and friend mode.

I love my colleagues and my workplace is just amazing.

But I still need to leave hopefully next year aftet being employed for 20 years.
