You might be surprised. There are tons of great levels in the first one, and I played it for months on my Wii U.

Never did the second one, cause I ain't buying a Switch, but I've seen some crazy stuff on YouTube.

At one point I was like number 4 all time level maker in North America. I wonder if I'm still up there.

Yeah, it has a full campaign where you go through pre-made levels and upgrade parts of the castle with the coins you get.

And the online scene is huge. There are a ton of basic stuff that toddlers have probably done, but you can filter it to never see them.

Idk how popular it still is but the Mario maker subreddit was always a great place to find good levels people made, and also share your own and get feedback

I do a lot of high concept levels, and ones where like, you go down a tube and come up to the same level and it's different. Like that first level, going through tubes makes the water go up or down. There's another level where you time travel from the past to future and back, but it's all the same level. Lots of cool stuff like that.

My wackiest level I made is one that builds itself as you play.

Basically you hit on/off (or don't) and then hit a P switch (or don't), and then it takes you to the beginning of the level where everything is different depending on what you did at the beginning.

Then you get to do it again to determine which boss you fight.

16 total levels in one!

First one is completely playable, just cannot upload levels. I assume it'll eventually go offline in the next couple of years as Wii U stuff goes 100% dark.

OMG no. There are some truly amazing creations online. Definitely check out some levels.

You can usually spot the troll levels by how ridiculously low the clear rate is. Like a YouTuber spent 8+ hours trying to beat a level that only 5 people (out of 5,424) were able to beat. That was a 0.09% clear rate. Just avoid those kinds of clear rates and you'll be fine lol.
