RENSSELAER COUNTY, NY (WRGB) Three with ties to Rensselaer County were arrested by the FBI on Thursday.
Richard Crist, James Gordon and Leslie Wallace are in custody for quote "violating federal laws."
In a statement, the FBI says:
"The right to vote is established and protected by the Constitution. The FBI, together with our partners at the US Attorney's Office, will go to great lengths to safeguard that right."
Crist is a county communications official and recently a consultant for county executive Steve McLaughlin. Gordon is listed on the county website as the Director of Central Services. Wallace is listed in a 2021 county budget document as an Executive Staffer.

All three were arraigned in Federal Court. All three were charged with 1 count conspiracy to violate constitutional rights, the max sentence being 10 years in prison.
Gordon was additionally charged with witness tampering, which carries with it a max sentence of 20 years in prison, while Wallace was also charged with making a false statement, which has a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.
"I hope that voters are paying attention," Cindy Doran, a Rensselaer County Democratic Legislator, says. "I hope they'll remember this when they go to the polling booths in November, because they're the ones that can make a difference and they have that right constitutionally."
