Vesperia's story gets a little random at the end IMO. Yes, Flynn and Yuri's rivalry was fun and Yuri being an inconvential jrpg protagonist as well, but Symphonia's story was so much better to me.

Please explain

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say Vesperia having a better story than Symphonia. Abyss or Berseria maybe, but not Vesperia

Seriously, you gotta be dick deep in a guide the E-N-T-I-R-E time or you'll miss'll a random conversation in a town half a map away that locks you out of some huge questline. I hope the newer Tales games got rid of that shit.

I kind of hate the equipment system in Berseria, feels like a shitty MMO with how many copies of the same gear you get. Older games kept it simple when it came to getting better gear, which is precisely how I liked it.

Vesperia has a better main playable cast and interactions, Symphonia has better story and antagonists.

Berseria is trash. You can mash buttons and heal yourself, I beat the whole game like that easily amd the plot is all laphi, laphi, LAPHI

I don't even remember Vesperia's story beyond the first arc and the weird things in the sky for some reason at the end.

I respectfully disagree. Aside from Yuri and Flynn, I liked almost all Symphonia character more than Vesperia

I only liked Yuri

Why didn't they get Troy Baker back for the Definitive Edition. I know Troy Baker said he loved the character. Was it just too much money lol

The battle system for Berseria fucking sucks. They had it so good with Xillia 2. They tried to reinvent the wheel with Zestiria's absolute garbage battle system and then ran it back in Berseria.

The games were only released 5 years apart. I guess that Vesperia's animations and graphics aged better though. Probably the battle system too

Vesperia's story is more of an adventurer slice of life, the narrative is pretty loose.

There's more to it than that. Every re-release of Symphonia was also substantially worse than the original. Not in the "lololol, the music is slightly static-y" like with the GBA FF ports, but actively worse. For instance, they removed all of the battle transitions (the broken glass stuff) and some of the lines were removed (and not minor ones either... The part where Colette is first visited by an angel is pretty famous for that reason).

And "better" is basically never actually a call on quality, so it's all subjective. Someone could even call Zestiria the best, regardless of bad taste/reality, because that is how it works.

I own the ps5 remaster and the glass transition is still there. The odd line removal is still present though. My guess is that ports of old games were way harder to preserve back then.
