Depends on the build. Are you gonna be an Int mage or Faith caster? (nvm, I'm not sure Pyro require much in in this game).

I'm thinking that and going with the clawmark seal since strength scaling and the large club is available early on

Zweihander is available pretty early and is a Strength weapon that should go with Clawmark seal. I think GS and UGS are better than they were launch window. A lot of the good strength faith weapons are later in the game tho.

Yeah I dont agree with that sentiment. On a second or 3rd playthrough hell yes, gobble it up. But I saw person on reddit last year crying that they missed something with an INT build. Saying "now i dont even have the most important part of my build because the game xxxxxx". I do a build and just play the game using whatever equipment I find. The only thing I use a guide on is if Im stuck on a boss or cannot crack a side quest.

Upon further reflection the hammer sucks in terms of looks
my choices now are either level up strength to use crescent moon great axe or a battle hammer
or just stick with a lame claymore

I think the best Int weapon is generally agreed to be the Moonveil katana.

The better faith weapons are mid/late game, but the WInged Scythe can be found pretty early. I didn't play faith though, so I'm less sure about that one.

dragon tail whip is amazing
headless luthel or whatever sucks

I think I'm gonna take a long long break
raya lucaria is literally one of the worst areas in any from soft game I've ever played
I definitely got lucky with how I navigated because I found only one site of grace I think that was for the boss fight but I am not interested in exploring again
