Article with some quotes from their interview: https://blog.playstation.com/2023/04/27/armored-core-vi-fires-of-rubicon-launches-august-25--new-gameplay-details/ Its an intricate and multi-layered world, brimming with mega-structures and enormous underground facilities built by its former inhabitants. These structures cover a planetary surface wracked with extreme cold and contamination in the aftermath of the great disaster, and the player will be exploring these various environments as they proceed, says game director Masaru Yamamura. The expansive environments will deliver an incredible sense of scale, maintaining the quality weve come to expect from FromSoftwares world-design maestros. And with your Armored Cores (AC for short) advanced movement skills, youll be able to explore these large, open spaces to your hearts content. Youll be encountering lots of different scenery and objectives as you advance through the games mission-based progression structure (like previous entries). So will still have missions, but they'll take place in huge levels with tons of exploration. --- ~Peaf~ ... Copied to Clipboard!

Armored Core 2 is the one that launched with the PS2, right? I remember that one sucking. Nowhere near as fun as, say, Zone of the Enders 2. Peace___Frog posted... Was not expecting all the Zone of the Enders looking stuff in that trailer! I've never played an AC game but I was under the impression it had more grounded, heavy, slow mechs. Have I just been totally wrong or is this a major shift? Originally, I'd say AC had mechs that were between MechWarrior and ZoE. As time went on, control got more refined and quicker. I haven't played one of the games since 4, but I remember it getting more responsive. Haven't watched this trailer yet either so maybe it's quite a change - I can't say yet. I think gradually changing is the right answer though. --- "Bordate is a pretty shady place, what with the gangs, casinos, evil corporations and water park." - FAHtastic ... Copied to Clipboard!

Have I just been totally wrong or is this a major shift? Short answer. "It varies". Long answer: AC has changed significantly over time. The PSX trilogy was fairly landbound, with ACs being able to fly but not being particularly nimble while doing so. AC2 introduced more mobility, but combat was still fairly grounded. Every subsequent numbered game increased the speed and action the games were capable of, and this reached its apex in Armored Core 4: For Answer, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRjZjDpCpPU Armored Core 5 and its followup, Verdict Day, were once gain more landbound and restrained. A lot of the fanbase is not fond of those games, because they dialed shit way down compared to For Answer and some of its predecessor games. This game looks like it's closer to For Answer than V Day, while not being quite as zippy. --- Shine on, you crazy diamond. ... Copied to Clipboard!
