Yeah they're not that great, but I'm just a sucker for "whodunit" films, so I can find some enjoyment even in those shitty Adam Sandler Murder Mystery films.

Yes, but then you might as well watch the good Hercule Poirot movies. Sydnet Lumet's Murder on the Orient Express is so good. Ingrid Bergman is amazing. I think she got an Oscar for it. And Sean Connery also exists in it!

These Kenneth Branagh versions... they don't have the spark.

I liked the first two well enough.

Eh, they're fine in a "Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea" way. They're not exactly game changers, but they're good easy watching.

ngl, I like these movies a lot more than I thought I would.

Knives Out beat these remakes straight to the punch and they haven't caught up since.

I know this is an adaptation of a short unreleased story though so maybe that will be a gamechanger.

I'm one of those weirdos that absolutely loves these new movies. They get a lot of hate but to me they're so cool imo. Yes, I've seen the old ones, and I like those too. These new movies have such grandeur and spectacle though!

And I really like the guy who plays Poirot. And his mustache.

Was one of the other ones "Death on the Nile?". I remember it came out during the pandemic and I thought it didnt do well. I remember we were on vacation watching it on Satellite HBO and we got 3/4 through it before a thunderstorm knocked out the signal.

Yeah I heard good stuff about the older films and how the newer ones are just inferior to them. I'll give them a watch when I get more free time.

I love kenneth branagh but these movies are terrible and going serious with them was so the wrong move. Knives Out really set the bar for murder mystery and nothing has come close, not even adaptations of the queen of the genre's work.

I never saw Death on the Nile. Don't know if I'll see this one either. I didn't think the new Murder on the Orient Express was as good as the old one, so I haven't really been paying attention after that. But the new one was still fine in a lazy-day way, so I might get around to streaming these sequels eventually.

Yeah I never saw the originals so I have no basis of comparison, but I thought the new ones were fine. I like mysteries, so it hit everything I wanted more or less.

Yeah, I can't help but feel if I do watch the older films I would also be fairly disappointed in the newer movies. But since I haven't watched them, I still think they're great films for "whodunit" fans like me. Though someone else already mentioned it, I don't think any of the movies in the same genre can hold a candle to the Knives Out films. Rian Johnsons "subverting expectations" director style absolutely pays off in those movies.

One thing these Poirot movies will always have over the Knives Out ones is the time period and setting. I love the old school stuff.
