This is the low stakes isekai trash that i have been craving.

Great palate cleanser after watching some more emotionally involved series like Angel Beats.

So far everything has been simple and fun. A lot like Ive Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years. That one was fun too.

How does he charge his phone? Is he in a fantasy medieval world? He would run out of battery power eventually

God gave him the ability to charge it with magic when he was reincarnated. Along with some other skills.

In the first ep you find out that god killed him accidentally with a lightning bolt and he feels really bad about it. So he brings him back in a fantasy world so he can live out some JRPG dreams and do quests and stuff. He also has Gods phone number if he gets in a jam.

Im only on ep2 so im sure we will see him do some silly stuff along the way. Watch it get super dark or something half way in.

It's the best kind of isekai, imo. Simple, lighthearted fun with no melodrama. Goes all in on the power fantasy and never tries to be anything deep or serious.

Oh right, I should check this out as well. Hopefully it'll entertain me more than Arifureta.

Speaking of which, yes, I'm halfway through S1 after the previous topic, and between the bad CGI fights and the edgy MC, it is aggressively boring as sin. And yet it isn't completely offensive to watch, unlike some other isekais.

Still, disappointing that Yue alone isn't cute enough to save it.

Iirc it's also a "healing" genre, where nothing bad happens, light-hearted and a laid back story.

I've watched and it's not as bad as people said. They're just expecting a different genre.

Yeah School Days isn't that bad imo if just for the shock value in terms of entertainment. I just find Smartphone dreadfully dull and unimaginative. Imagine if the author actually had to write something interesting or elaborate. Like all Isekais, the authors just go down a laundry list of already done garbage plot points and just chooses a hook via a pack of manatees

Haven't watched Arpeggio, GATE got too military propaganda for me

Do they even make non-isekai anime anymore these days? I mean, besides the slice-of-school-life slow-burn romance animes? Seems like every new show is one of the two.

There are plenty of shows every season that don't fall into either of those categories.

If you can get passed the edgy MC, the LN and manga are pretty good. The anime on the other hand was kinda ass.
