From Peach's side, you could have the towers be based around the suits and power ups and from Bowser's side the power ups would be based on minions
You could customize them too so like a fire tower on Peach could split into doing fire damage or more splash damage
Bowser could have different hammer bros or koopas so one koopa might be designed to have more health but less damage and surround it with hammer bros towers or you could have sledge bros or whatever it was that stunned mario so they'd slow down the whatever things peach's kindgom uses
