To be fair, in current canon we've seen Ghost Yoda summon bolts of lightning from the sky and Ghost Anakin fight off a bunch dark side wraiths to save Luke. Force Ghost really do seem to be more powerful than you can possibly imagine now. Obi just didn't feel like helping out.
