Boss or coworker at the same position? We got this dude at my position that everyone at my position hates because he's a lazy fuck that refuses to do most of our work and instead helps the chef or stands around thus leaving the night shift empty with everything. For some reason management loves him and makes excuses for him. I don't get how they are alright with an employee fucking over his coworkers and not doing his job like that.

I'm so glad I'm getting promoted and won't have to deal with that shit all the time.

Sounds like your boss likes the coworker, so it's not even really a choice between the two.

Sounds like he's using his time to chat up his higher ups and make it look like he's working instead of actually doing work.

Unfortunately, this type of person is the type that tends to get promoted and then the cycle continues.

Good luck.

The problem is that he won't do the work he doesn't like to do even if a manager tells him to, so he's not a yes man, but they don't do anything about it still

Also he has been in the same spot for like a decade and a half at this point, if he wanted to be promoted I'm sure he would have been by now

Yeah, he's def getting a promotion, so he can be paid even more to do even less.

In a fair and just universe this would be true, but we don't actually live in that universe.

In the universe we live in, most people don't give a shit about facts. Opinions and personal relationships are treated as being more important 99% of the time. And the guy meticulously taking notes and documenting everything just gets looked down on for being a narc.

Hull wrote the text, which was based on Peter's research. Peter and Hull intended the book to be satire,[3] but it became popular as it was seen to make a serious point about the shortcomings of how people are promoted within hierarchical organizations. The Peter principle has since been the subject of much commentary and research.

Um. Yes? That is how satire tends to work?
