The premise is Warren Beatty is a hairdresser cheating on like at least three women. Very fast paced dialogue where all these people are sort of lying to each other about their lives. It's just the most stressful type of movie for me.

ok the movie started with Beatty being at fault but these women have turned into succubi he can't get away

nixon looms over every other scene of this movie for some reason

Did you like it?

Yeah it was pretty good. Maybe a little too long (it's 1hr 50 minutes). There's this personal thing with Beatty going on but there's also this critique/satire of the Nixon administration happening at the same time and I'm not convinced they work together too well. In the final act when Beatty's house of cards collapses is when it really gets enjoyable. Besides seeing the character arcs play out, the sets and camera work are beautiful. All these vistas and 70s house parties + dynamic shots of Warren Beatty on a motorcycle. As the movie progresses it turns from distant and impersonal to very emotionally close and intimate. Somehow this movie didn't feel as nihilistic as other films of the 70s. There is at least a sense that a person can change for the better and there is an opportunity for you to 'live your best life', a meaningful life, even if that opportunity can be squandered.
