Its my first time playing in a while and they are giving me this "returners bounty" thing. Does this override the Sprout icon I had when I stopped playing? I'm still a sprout

Yeah, youll have the returner flower for 3 days of playtime and then revert back to a sprout if you havent progressed enough to graduate from it.

i think you get extra bonuses from mentor stuff, and the novice network. i have never used either so you can definitely get by without that stuff. if you are in a fc i imagine novice network is pointless.

I have a FC that I'm the only member of.

im in a FC but ive only ever spoken to someone in it once. when I first started there was some random who added me to their friends list and talked to me for 3 days before trying to invite me to their FC. But when he was asking some random people walked up to me and invited me to theirs. He pretty much just said "oh, these must be your friends" and then he left. Felt bad about it ever since >.>

What do I spend my tomestones of poetics on? I already have all the capstone gear it seems like

I remember spending a bunch of 2 relic weapon questlines before I left. should I just get more relics? is there anything else worth my tomestones? maybe something to level up crafting/gathering?

im getting a whole bunch from the sidequests im doing and dont want to waste them if possible

If you have extra poetics, I would just buy the gear for the other classes, just in case you ever want to switch it up later down the line and train up a new job.

i already got all the gear i need for all classes. when I had double XP from the oceanic servers opening I no-lifed the game and got to these levels:

and I checked all the classes I don't have at 80 yet, I have all gear for those classes. so theres no more gear I can buy unless there's crafter/gatherer gear

Go unlock Blue Mage.

does it unlock any endwalker dialogue?

Blue Mage starts at level 1, and in addition to leveling, you have to learn a variety of spells from fighting certain monsters. So if you enjoyed leveling the rest of those jobs, you should have fun with Blue Mage.

Plus you can explode yourself to death to return to the home point.

i dont like tanking at all. warrior is more fun than paladin but less fun than gunbreaker or dark knight

i was just messing with you. gunbreaker bothers me because the weapons are so tiny and they could totally have a shield and they don't because trying to look cool.

drk is neat. self-heals right up there with war, which is why i like war, it reminds me of brewmaster monk from WoW.

arent the self heals in FF14 more flavour than anything? In WoW you could pull off some crazy feats of soloing as either a DK through mad self-heals, or as a fire mage through mad burst-dps to skip phases. In FF14 it seems to be piddly amounts here and there which don't really do much in the overall scheme of things. although im not FF14 expert as you can tell from my lack of even being at endgame

These days Warrior isn't so much a "tank" as it is a "solo class"

A healer in a party with a tank is more or less a green DPS or at worst there to babysit the red DPS because a tank's self-healing is that good

i off-and-on keep an eye on the warriors who milk it for everything they can in endgame content because that shit is interesting to me -- if anything they end up being too powerful in context. incoming damage is actually the issue; healers heal really good and tanks have a lot of healing they can use, but they never need both, and it ends up that healers solo-heal eventually.

(also back whenever that was, drks and wars had roughly the same amount of actual throughput, it was just in different shapes -- war self heal used to be half of whatever the damage was you dealt, so this benefited from crits, and that made for spikes; drks are shield healers and have nice discipline priest-like plateaus everywhere)

i've always been under the impression that the best thing a tank can do for team dps is keep the healers bored.

fml. been doing the alexander questline and got to "fist of the son". turns out its basically unsoloable before lvl 90 because of the stun and then 1hko. so i have to queue -_-

The last alexander boss fight was pretty cool. Particularly when you travel back in time like 1 minute to save yourself from being blasted during the cutscene

Its the start point of Stormblood alliance raids.

I should really finish the story in that game. My Black Mage is like 82, but I just barely started the level 70 expansion. I keep trying to level up something else so I don't waste the XP, but then I get bored and quit.

Just so many damn quests, and they're all like 26 parters, too. I really enjoy CE raiding in WoW, though, so I'd like to try out whatever the top tier raiding equivalent is in FFXIV someday. Just such a chore getting there, lol.

I don't know about ping or anything, but queue times would probably be better if you visit another D/C. I see people from Dynamis on Aether all the time.

Aether is the big NA data center

Im on an oceanic datacenter so I dont think I can travel there or queue there? I wouldnt care about the latency of it was possible tho

Go to character screen on log in, submenu (square button) and the option should be there

I believe you can go to any data center

oh shit, it might finally be happening. after 7+ hours of queueing on/off. i get to maybe complete 1/3rd of this questline

used party finder for the last bit and actually got 11 people to help me somehow. all for a questline i dont understand even a little because i never played ff12 or tactics

but that final boss fight was pretty cool
