Almost 1.5 million people killed and I very rarely hear it bought up.

I dont even think Congress recognized it until the late 2010s. A lot of System of a Down's music is about just this.

Not many songs hit me emotionally, Holy Mountains does, when you consider the grand perspective of it all.

It isn't talked about as much as it should be, but people do talk about it. The real shame is that American and European media love to create various media and talk about the Holocaust and WW2 but the Armenian Genocide and some of the events around the beginning and during WW1 are mostly ignored. The Armenian Genocide is similar to the Holocaust, to the point that it could be argued that it is equally deserving of attention at the least.

I'm Greek and believe me, it still looms large in my older extended family members' consciousness. Hundreds of thousands of Greeks were also expelled and killed at the same time.

Because the people that did it are our allies and we don't like to talk bad about allies. It's the same reason we call it the Irish Potato Famine rather than when the Brits committed a genocide against the Irish.

There is a cool story about one of the bastards responsible for the genocide being assassinated, Talaat Pasha, in Berlin by an Armenian named Soghoman Tehlerian. He was put on trial for murder.

When asked by the judge if he felt any sort of guilt, Tehlirian remarked, "I do not consider myself guilty because my conscience is clearI have killed a man. But I am not a murderer."

He was found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity.
