Yeah, I almost never even bother debating anymore unless i'm feeling particularly fired up. There's only so many times you can "debate" a topic with people who've already made up their minds and aren't going to listen to you. When someone is against recognizing your right to exist, there's not a lot that can be realistically accomplished.

dude there have been like 10 threads at this point where people talk about stuff like sk8ers girlfriend and the granola's dog, you are aware of where it maxes it out at. but even if it doesnt get to that point it still constantly ends up at the level of someone like octillery who is arguing just to argue and its really disruptive.

I do not agree that users here target her for one, but she is notorious for getting users together to mark people that she didn't like either. So even if it was true that users targeted her, she has done the same thing to people in the past before.

I don't think people ever really stop and actually think about what it's like. I have to worry about even basic rights every single day, and with states like Florida pushing "groomer" rhetoric against people like me and loosening restrictions on the death penalty, i'm unironically starting to wonder if i'm going to be rounded up at some point because I live in a red state (Kentucky).

idk where you're going with this but it doesnt matter any more than gunpla getting bonked does. she'll just come back. the people that she argues with just come back. they will continue to argue pointlessly. bans are the most minor of inconveniences on this site as far as i can tell, they're basically just the staff alerting you that they find you annoying

You're not likely to change the mind of the person you're arguing against; but there is a good chance you may influence the mind of others reading the argument who are currently on the fence, and who may otherwise just see the other person's side without any counterarguments. This is the more important consideration IMO (in general, not just this specific subject).

Most of the states aren't going to happen, :/ . You can introduce whatever bill you want as a politician, but if the votes aren't there, it's only a waste of time.

That being said... I have no viable way of going anywhere else, so whatever happens to me is going to happen. I'm stranded here.

cyric has terrible takes sometimes but comes across overall as a decent person. gunpla is a vile and toxic person, much like averagejoel. i don't think there is really any mystery as to why users like those two get more hate than others, it would be like asking why admiral got more hate than others. when someone is constantly a vile and bad person over many years it is no surprise that the majority calls them out for being vile and a bad person.

Spoilers without warning has always been against the ToU. If you give a warning for one kind of spoiler but then give a different kind of spoiler behind the warning, you haven't actually given a warning for the spoilers. Deliberately dropping major spoilers without a warning, especially for a major franchise, has often resulted in bans even on completely clean history.
