I don't understand why (and maybe this is the case) they can't have a compromise. Call the azan on speakers that are small, yet loud enough to be heard on the grounds of the mosque. That way nobody is disturbed, and everyone gets what they want.

This has been going on in a city near me for years/

5 times a day there are loud speakers that call for islamic prayer around the city. And it is fuckin loud.

Yeah, when it's going to disturb other people, it shouldn't be allowed. Also, give religion and inch and it'll take a mile.

I wouldnt recommend that. Some people take the religious stuff pretty seriously and trying to sabotage prayer time might end a lil messy.

At first I thought this was about having an ad on tv saying to go to church.

What's actually going on is not good. We don't need to wake up entire neighborhoods when most of the people aren't even that religion. I like the phone text idea I saw in another post. I've heard the blaring horn or whatever they use otherwise. It's not subtle.....

Ok according to that article, the issue I have specifically is the dawn call to prayer. In the summer it might happen very early when people are still sleeping

I don't know when sun rise happens in Minneapolis in the summer. Where I live it happens very early.

How far from the church can it be heard?

It is no worse than living 2 blocks from a train which blows it's whistle. I really have to focus to notice it.
