Shit though the game may be, Sonic 06 isn't even the worst story in a sonic game, nevermind the 2nd worst story in all of gaming.

Seriously, the series has Dark Brotherhood, Rise of Lyric... hell, I'd even say Heroes has a worse story than 06.

Even if you ignore Steam dumpster diving or poor translations it is all but guaranteed that the worst written games will not be ones that the average person has heard of. Especially when you separate "games that I disliked the story because it was disappointing" from "actually written bad."

The twist in Heavy Rain is poorly executed, but I can't really hate the rest of the game outside of that.

I don't think Heavy Rain is one of the worst-written games that I've played, but it definitely "cheats", and it has a glaring plot hole that I can't get over.

iirc, the story initially had a supernatural angle, which explained the plot hole, but they scrapped the supernatural stuff but forgot to do anything about the part with the plot hole, and it really annoys me.

You can kinda excuse the big plot hole by saying it's an overzealous cop causing it.

Also there might be a logical explanation:
The cops never got a warrant or subpoena for Ethan's medical history from his time in the hospital. They only spoke to the shrink so they didn't know he had a strong alibi.

in either case calling it one of the worst stories is a pretty hyperbolic exaggeration. It's not literary excellence but it's not the same tier as FE Fates and Other M.

iirc, he was supposed to black out due to a psychic connection with the OK, but idk if we even see any blackouts besides that initial one (it's been a long while since I've played).

Oh I thought you were talking about the super obvious one where HE'S LITERALLY IN A COMA for years while the origami killings were ongoing and it's impossible for him to have been the origami killer.

The blackout shit is just more misdirection like when they had Shelby kill the one guy in the shop. They probably intentionally did Ethan the way they did because the previous game they made started out with the premise of main protagonist blacks out and when he wakes up he realized he killed someone.
