They did it because outrage generates attention. Regardless of their opinion, people are talking about the brand.

Step 1: Alienate customer base
Step 2: Customer base throws out beer they already gave you money for.
Step 3: Customer base moves over to other brand also owned by same company.

They were probably hoping that the influx of new customers the ads would appeal to would offset the anger from the trash that already drink it

Unfortunately they didn't factor in the fact that their beer tastes like shit in the first place and craft beer is more popular among those groups

Can you find an article about it on the daily wire? I only did quick look but didn't see anything, but I will admit I didn't look THAT hard. I'm wondering how likely it is people just make up stories and credit them to websites who never even wrote that. I found another site that is obviously right leaning that also uses Daily Wire as their source but when you click the link to go to the source it doesn't actually go anywhere.

I think this aspect of your premise is faulty. A lot of people of all demographics drink Bud Light. They wouldn't be a giant brand if they only had "redneck" appeal.

Moreover while there are certainly some chuds losing their mind over it, I would imagine that most of the redneck crowd really doesn't give a shit about Bud Light's spokespeople. Like I got some very solidly, self-identified rednecks in my extended family. They have absolutely not stopped drinking Bud Light, even the particularly shitty openly anti-LGBTQ+ ones.

I think I'm probably trying to talk about what I'm talking about in the wrong thread since this thread isn't exactly about what I'm going on about. I'm talking about the linked tweet that someone posted above and how they cite a news source but don't link to the citation and how when I try to find the citation myself I can't. Looking at the news sources website I can't find it. But I find a few different places all citing that place.

I'm not trying to find a generic daily wire article about the whole situation but this one specific one that is mentioned on twitter.

The article I linked is the source they're talking about. The second paragraph of that article says:

yeah. bud tastes like shit but its also widespread enough that its more or less the default thing most americans conjure up in their mind when they think of "beer." bud light is the highest selling beer in america and bud heavy is up there too

Craft beer costs more which is why Bud was so popular. Had nothing to do with taste and all that overrated quality shit because IPAs are also as horrible, it was all about price.

It was actually the drink of choice at the gay club I used to frequent. Guess the mindset was though that if all the beers are the same price why not go with the one that has brand recognition.

I've never been a bud lite person but even I'd drink them at the club. Knew they had it didn't wanna take time to find out what others they had in stock
