What's even worse than not hearing back for any applications is being initially reached out to and THEN ghosted

I really dislike what it has become. Has anyone else noticed that the home rental process and dating are becoming the same thing? Getting a job or renting property should NOT be this stressful and COMPETITIVE. There were like 600 applicants for a house I tried to rent and its a complete free-for-all right now. This fast paced hustle culture BS is making people lose their minds with stress.

The people who operate Indeed and other job sites deserve to be arrested

When I was out of work and looking, my mental health suffered tremendously. It got bad enough that I couldn't describe it here. I felt like a complete failure and any attempt to talk to anyone about it resulted in one of three things:

1) Empty platitudes about how something would come along

2) Accusations that I was just being lazy because it couldn't be that hard to find a job

Or, my favorite, when I asked a close friend if he could possibly help me get the absolutely lowest tier position at his company because I was desperate:

3) Laughed at and told to literally sell my body instead.

I have an okay job now, but I'm trying to find something better and it's basically the same issue. Constant rejections. Interviews that go nowhere. It's soul crushing.

'I'm sorry but you told me this is was a hybrid role and I was only in the office two days a week so I won't be continuing after this week'
'but no! you have to understand, think of the client! and our reputation! And um, your own'
'lady, I'm not going to be using your company again, you literally have the same advert claiming it's two days i nthe office'
'ok but think about how this will impact your reputation'
