... given to cancer research, possibly, and the advancements have not been that great, what have these researchers been doing with all that money?" "Or maybe they're not working that hard , or something cause medecines for cancer and stuff generate huge profits" Have you ever heard anyone express sentiments similar to these? If not, then what do you think of these quotes, anyway?

I've seen that posted on CE numerous times. They seem to ignore that by their logic, no other disease would have been cured and that it would require every doctor that has ever worked on cancer to somehow be silent about this global conspiracy to suppress a cure.

cancer is not the worst disease you can get, depending on when doctors find it I guess. that's mostly thanks to cancer research i'd imagine.

I never told anyone such this outloud but cancer research really has stagnated and that alot more funding won't change won't do or change a thing towards its progress in the short-mid future.

So yes, I do feel it is over funded and it's excess money could be better spent on the R&D of other diseases and health related issues.

oh, what about this though? "like trillions have been given to cancer research and the results haven't been that great, what have these researchers and scientists been doing all this time?, where have all this money been going?" have you heard others express that sentiment?

it could be true since billionaires wanna extend their life for as long as possible, they're probably have some people keeping tabs on the researchers they're funding

What metric are you using to define "stagnated"?

Better treatment, cures or at the least theoretically possible ones. But as things are now I'm wondering if it's simply more time that's needed(decades or more even) rather then crap tons of possibly excess funding.

We continue to see huge breakthroughs in cancer diagnosis and treatment on a yearly basis. I have no idea what you guys are even talking about. "Cancer" is not a single disease, though.

So a few points -
1) Is "better treatment/more theoretically possible ones" the most comprehensive way to measure progress in medical research?
2) For the sake of your argument (there were a higher rate of "new treatments" developed in the past), which ones are you referring to?
3) Doesn't most scientific research from both time AND money? (being able to come up with fifty different ideas and test them simultaneously rather than doing one or two at a time)
