I can sleep in, watch Netflix, play video games whilst doing work at my own pace.

Even end up finishing the work quicker so I have more time to myself.

Im so beyond jealous of people who get to work from home and it honestly boggles my mind that there are people out there who actually complain about it.

I get to work from home one day during the week and its the only day where working doesnt make me want to blow my brains out lol. Thats my goal but its surprisingly difficult to find a 100% remote job that meets my salary needs.

I agree.

now it feels like bullshit when they ask us to come back to the office.

I'm more productive working from home, plus I'm in a better mood.

I think the best thing was delivery drivers leaving the order at your door

Another good thing was normalizing wearing masks when you're sick. You might not have covid, but it's honestly asinine how we weren't doing this in the first place out of simple consideration.

Amen! WFH is biggest lifestyle change in my life since being an adult.

No better feeling than pooping and showering ass right after all while on the clock.

Also, not having to make an excuse for social obligations.

One side effect of Covid was it made me understand typical Hollywood/video game villains who want to do evil things for "The Greater Good"

Seeing people decry vaccines, riot and deny covid exists as the dead piled up and hospitals struggled kinda makes the "You people need a tyrant to rule you!" speeches hold more water.

Think Loki from Marvels Avengers would have let Anti-Vaxxers do their thing in his kingdom?

Agreed. I'm currently 100% remote and it's great. Saving so much money not shitting money on gas or car repairs. Not having to waste precious hours on commuting.

Main reason I have stuck with my job for the past 3 years. Don't know if I'm going to be able to keep this 100% telework. Currently shooting for government position, and I'm pretty sure they're going to make me show up on site at least 3 days a week if not all week.

I refuse to even consider a non-WFH position for the rest of my career.

The number of hours of my life I've gotten back by cutting the commute alone is damn near priceless. At roughly 2.5 hours a day, five days a week, over two and a half years, that's nearly 67 DAYS worth of time I've gotten back since 2020.

Hell yes, it was life changing. I go to the office maybe twice a month now, I was able to take on another job where I can bring my laptop and do my WFH stuff at that job and make a bit extra on the side.

I mostly binge streaming series, smoke a lot of reefer and knock out work while petting kitties. I realized there was virtually no reason to drive to Nashville to do what I was doing, so did the owner, and he reduced down to a tiny office for meetings, saving himself a lot of money each month, and everyone is overall happier and more productive.

I cut 10 hours a week driving time also.

I wish I was comfortable working from home. I just can't separate work from home when I WFH and it makes me enjoy the space less when I'm just trying to live my life. I can't stay focused on work at home either.

Same. I'd commute 50-80 minutes each way in my past two jobs. Now I'm 100% fully remote. Can't ever go back

I'm pretty similar. I like having at least one day a week in the office to mix things up. Otherwise it can feel like it encroaches on my enjoyment of being at home. A lot of this will be my lack of focus which means that I'm less productive. If I was working better, I'm sure I'd find it easier to have clear boundaries between work and non work times.

Depends on the job. Some have adhoc schedules (1 week WFH, 1 week on-site, repeat) and others are hybrid (4 days WFH, 1 on-site).

No stressful drive to and from work
I can shit in my own bathroom whenever I want
I can sleep in a bit because I don't have to get up to drive
Way happier
I can work late to get stuff finished so it doesn't pile up since I get unlimited OT and don't have that "I need to get the fuck out of here and get home" sensation since I don't have to drive

It's great, I get sooooo much money now thanks to that last one lol

At the immediate time of lockdown I was working helpdesk IT alongside 3 other coworkers. I was technically the tier 2 so I had access to all the call logs and such but was thrown in frontline by my ever so useful manager because for some reason there are complaints about clients reaching voicemail

Check call logs and Im averaging like 20 calls answered a day while my coworkers are around 2 each. Manager didnt do shit because he had like 3 small children to deal with at all hours of the day. His manager just barely exists and also doesnt actually do shit beyond collect a paycheck. So yeah I wasnt happy with WFH in that scenario because my department was managed so terribly.

Now in an engineering position I fucking pray to go WFH eventually lol

The time saved is honestly the biggest plus. Even now my commute is about half an hour each way which is reasonable (and Ive definitely done much worse) but the thought of being able to save an hour every day, not to mention saving gas, less wear on my car god, I gotta get a completely remote job.

Office job I'm guessing? That pretty normal. Some jobs like IT are even designed that way. It's more about the person being "on call" for those 8-9 hours than it is them doing busy work all day.

I think it all comes mostly down to manager expectations. On the flip side, some people get away with barely doing any work and kinda ruin it for everyone, but it's not always all their fault. If their manager isn't giving them enough work and checking up on them enough then.. eh.

It also comes down to the logistics of the job. Teaching primary school kids online is a pain in the arse.

Everyone that just plays videogames all day when they are supposed to be working, is making it look bad for the rest of people doing WFH lol. Some people really abuse it. Half of the problem is the Managers though, like if they aren't assigning enough work and checking in on you. But you gotta show you are doing the work at least.

They will be the first to be laid off.

I think it's implied - I cant speak for others, but when I say things like "I'm gaming and shit during the day" it's certainly caveated with the notion that my actual work is still done/getting done. If I'm done by 3 and don't want to start any new projects, I can just fuck off and stay online for emergencies instead of sitting around in the office waiting for 5pm to roll around.
