Say you purchase a housing unit for 150,000 dollars. That's like 300 PS5's you could buy instead. Imagine what you could do with all those PS5's. Or instead you could get some boring old basic house in a shit ass fly over state. I'll take the PS5's instead. Glue them all together to make a better house.

Land, labor, and materials, all of which cost significantly more than they used to and the reason we probably won't see prices drop as far as some people keep hoping. Otherwise new home construction will grind to a halt if they can't sell them for a profit and so you'll still have a limited supply to keep prices higher.

Houses are being bought up to either rent out or kept empty to drive up demand.
