Oh, a multiplayer FPS game, exactly what I want from the studio that made Dishonored and Prey.

Yeah, that one. Have you played it? Because it's a pretty hardcore 7/10.

I liked Deathloop. Granted, I never beat it cuz I rarely beat any games nowadays, but I enjoyed my time with it. It was a fun sandbox and had a lot of cool ideas and abilities. It was just janky, but that's every Arkane game.

I remember having the description of this mangled to me as "Open world Bethesda RPG with vampires" and was hyped at that

Big disappointment

How much of it did you play? Because I think the reason it got so many perfect scores is because it deserves that for the first few hours of gameplay. But when you get right down to the meat of the game, it becomes pretty repetitive and shallow. The most disappointing (for me) being that it does absolutely nothing with the time loop premise.

That said, I will admit that the multiplayer aspect was something I turned off just because I found it more annoying than fun though. I think the game is balanced pretty heavily around that and it'd be higher in your estimates if you did like Julianna constantly invading you.

If I were to guess I was probably around 3/4 the way done with Deathloop before I put it down. I got it at launch and I think something else came out and took my attention away from it.

The multiplayer aspect was a lot of fun when it worked. Iirc there was major issues around launch and shit didn't work half the time. Also some people were pricks and used glitches to make it so you couldn't kill them if you invaded, or if you invaded them. When it played as intended it was really neat tho.

looks like Generation Zero but with "vampires" and that's a condemning comparison

also, the gunplay and animations look really stiff and amateur. this is supposed to be a big title for gamepass... the "arkane jank" really shouldn't be tolerated anymore

Yeah, jank is more forgivable in an immersive sim than it is a multiplayer FPS.

especially when you have big fast spongey lightning monsters dogging you down in a fight that lasts 30 minutes, i mean what the fuck am i even looking at

Looks like a mobile game lol

I might check this one out, it's apparently more of a far cry style game that can be co-op

this bothers me most of what I've seen tbh

honestly it's my issue with combat in a lot of modern action-y games

Like when I got my PS5 I tried to play FF7:Remake or Cyberpunk I just had a hard time getting into it because of stuff like the combat. It wasn't hard but because of how spongey the enemies were it took so long.

This shift in gameplay formula is exactly what killed Machinegames when they made Wolfenstein Youngblood, another Bethesda subsidiary :(
