I just spent the past 30 minutes going through these old LOST episode discussions. Some of these topics go back nearly 20 years ago.

I miss the community around it more than the show itself

Several shows have tried to capture that same magic. Yellowjackets might be the most successful one. On Showtime. About a highschool girls soccer team that survive a plane crash in the wilderness and then have to live out there a while. Show goes back and forth between the 1990s when it happened, and modern day with the girls now adult women. Slowly reveals what happened out there

It kinda feels similar to Lost in certain aspects.

LOST killed my interest in watching any series of that type. Well, LOST, and another that was cancelled after one season.

Hey fam. I've heard that show is good. I'm doing a re watch of LOST but maybe I'll check out that show next.

Same. I haven't watched live television since LOST finished airing. All I do is stream shows to catch up on them now.

Heroes?

I forget what the name of it was. It was the one where the world's entire population went unconscious for one hour and then everyone was trying to solve the how and why.

I watched that. I think it was The Event.

JK it was Flash Forward.

I think Flash Forward was made by the same people who created Lost. And supposedly it may have been set in the same world. Yea, I was mad too when it got cancelled. I still think that show had potential to be legendary. The premise had a lot of promise

Yeah, that was it. Thanks.

So, LOST peeved me by piling on mysteries ontop of mysteries and then having a lame "we escaped the island alive after all and now we are happy" kind of a cop-out ending. Like what was that foot statue, what was the smoke monster, why and how and whose galleon got stranded in the middle of the island? The show added intrigue episode after episode until, I guess, the writers realized they didn't even themselves know why they wrote in all that stuff and chose to wrap up the show on a pesudo-feelgood note that felt as rewarding as taking a dive into a pool of surstrmming.

Flash Forward ended with no resolution simply because the series was axed before it could get itself going. Maybe that was for the best?

In addition to Yellowjackets, From has a very "LOST but horror" feel, and I think has some overlap in producers and actors.

I think you missed an episode or two because the statue and ship in the middle of the island were both explained

Or maybe they were explained in a such a perfunctory way it never ingrained itself into my long-term memory?

i feel like it would be hard to forget the giant tidal wave smashing the giant statue and carrying the ship all the way onto the island

I didn't remember that. Though tidal waves are hardly ever powerful enough to break huge statues and carry ships inland by miles. That's tsunami-lebels of power. So, there was a sea quake?
Also, who built the statue and why, and in whose image?
Maybe there's a LOST wiki...
Yes, there is!
Maybe now I can get an understand on what all that stuff piled up towards the end of series was really about.

Didn't the writers of the show say they had no idea where they were going with it and were just coming up with wild shit and seeing what happens.
Or maybe that was just made up discussion board nonsense. Long time ago, I don't remember.
Either way, even if I didn't love the conclusion, Lost was an amazing experience

The smoke monster was literally like integral to the ending. How can you say it was never explained?
