Inverted Y axis? Tons of people do this, pretty much anyone who played Goldeneye, Mario 64, or PC flight sim games as a kid.

On my Switch and PC profiles I always invert Y axis, and when my kids occasionally play games under my profile they get used to it super quick.

If you were to play in VR, the computer's Y axis would have to be inverted to work properly.

You aren't using a mouse either. An analog stick is supposed to represent your head, not your sense of direction.

Oh here is a unique one. For context, I live in Japan but usually play my games in english.

Playing a Japanese PS5, in NA settings.

So playing in english, the game usually does the typical X to confirm, O to cancel. But when i enter save menus for Japanese games it switches to Japanese system settings, so O is confirm and X is cancel.

Youtube put up this rpgs on the 3DO video that I let autoplay, and the dude eventually gets to this one dungeons and dragons first person game. Said game has a ton of platforming in it, but for whatever reason they could not find any button to put jump on besides the start button.......definitely is the only video game I can think of that had jump on the start button.

Sure the sega genesis back when it came with a 3 button controller sometimes had to get a little wacky to fit a ton of actions on just 3 buttons....for example it was common in street fighter games to have the buttons swap from punches to kicks when you press start, and mortal kombat games on the sega genesis used to put block on the start button if it was the 3 button controller, but the 3DO controller despite also having 3 buttons had at least 2 more on top of that:

They could have put like, magic or whatever the hell on select or somethin' and put jump on that 3rd button, lol.

Inverting the y-axis is obviously the more logical and natural choice on a controller, but for some reason, to me it feels better to also invert the x-axis when using a mouse, even though I only invert the y-axis with controller.

If any game made full use of the n64 controller instead of only using two prongs at a time, then that would probably be the worst control design. There were some games that used the left and right prongs primarily and then also had the stick do stuff like taunt or whatnot, but I don't know if there was anything that went farther than that.
