I was moderated for posting about the Restrict Act despite it breaking no rules. The moderation was quietly upheld and no explanation was given.

it Is ridiculous that they are given the ability to punish users but there's no oversight. They don't like what you said but you didn't break a rule? Deleted. Protest? It goes back to them and they of course of infallible and therefore upheld.

thisnis like when you police investigate themselves and always find out they've done nothing wrong.

literally there is a mod in this topic posting a very obvious trolling post but nothing will come of it for him but I won't be surprised to wake up to a moderated topic from another power abuser offended by my outrage at their outrageous behavior.

I got "unfairly" modded by the mods once and now I hate them all and have dedicated my life to exact some sort of revenge.

There is, actually. Regular mods are held accountable to Leads, and all mods are held accountable to Admins. I've seen plenty of mods get in trouble for making bad moderations too often, some of whom are no longer on the staff, and some of them adapted and do better now. We are far from infallible, and if we truly believed ourselves incapable of mistakes then there would be no need for a dispute process.

We aren't able to respond to disputes anymore. Admins at some point before I joined decided that the old dispute system was too slow and too many mods didn't participate in it because responses took too long. Couple with the tiered nature and some users could be waiting weeks to get their accounts back in good standing vs the 1 day it is now. There's obvious pros and cons here, but most people, users and mods alike, seem to want the vote system to stay. Perhaps with an optional "reply" feature to let us respond to people who actually do need additional clarification.
